Since 2017 Mike has accumulated over 5000 hours coaching professionals, leaders and business owners to live healthier, happier lives. Mike is the founder of Better Happy through which he is able to support hundreds of leaders and business owners transform their lives and businesses every year.
Mike believes that our work is vital to our happiness and that there is a process to be followed that enables us to achieve incredible results without the stress and sacrifice most hard workers go through.
Helping business owners and leaders grow their businesses without excess stress, poor health and burnout.
After serving five years and completing two tours of Afghanistan Mike felt unhappy and lost in life. Feeling a pull to the spiritual teaching of the East Mike boarded a one way ticket to Thailand two days after leaving the military.
Over the next three years Mike travelled South East Asia and Australia. He lived on monasteries in Nepal and Thailand studying Buddhism and other spiritual teachings whilst teaching children English.
Mike realised that although we have more security and comfort in the West, we're also more more unhappy.
From this experience Mike knew his calling was to help others hard workers live more healthy, happy meaningful lives - he returned to the UK in 2016 to fulfil this mission.
With no business experience or outside investment Mike opened his first business. Over five years he grew this to six figures and a team of five. Although the business did well Mike didn't. In the pursuit of his passion he completely burned himself out to the point of depression. In 2021 he closed that business.
After six months of rest, determined to keep moving forwards Mike started talking about his experience of burnout and creating solutions to prevent it from happening again.
It's this story and these systems that formed the foundation of Better Happy which has gone on to help thousands of professionals and entrepreneurs.
Before his experiences in Thailand and Nepal Mike struggled to be at peace in his own company. He made up for this by staying busy and heavy binge drinking.
"My experiences on the monasteries taught me essential skills for a healthy happy life. I'm now completely comfortable in my own company. Instead of dreading quiet time and filling it with drinking or mindless entertainment I enjoy reading, walking and relaxing."
